Before you think about creating landscape, it is very important for you to have basic understanding of principle of landscape design.
It is doesn’t necessarily that you apply every principle to every design of your landscape. However by understanding the basic landscaping will help you to generate idea of landscaping that obviously will significantly increase your landscape creativity.
The great landscape always determined by its great idea of the creators. So the principle of landscape design is like role that you should follow. However, abstract and creativity are allowed.
Unity.
Any landscape you create you should aim the unity. It can be read as repetition and consistency of the idea should be applied. If you repeat like plant element, plant group of some décor in the landscaping project you will be able to create unity of the landscape project easily. Consistencies make unity as different element of landscaping fit together to create magnificent landscape
On the other hand you can achieve the consistency by element of character in your landscape design. If we say about character we are talking about texture, size, height act of different element in landscaping.
The use of accent boulder would be the perfect example for this. You may seen a landscape design that have large white round and another is red square granite boulder. There you can see that the unity doesn’t necessarily created by this specific element. This is just an example to make it easy to understand, but it is also can be applied to the group of different plants as well as different type of materials.
Creating theme is a simple way to create unity in the landscaping project. On the other hand the easiest way to create theme is using garden décor or garden statue. Creating garden theme is very easy if you are interested to that particular topic or theme….to be continued in part II.
